AFL fans reveal their VERY sneaky way of saving $140 on a 12-month Kayo subscription

AFL fans reveal the sneaky way of saving $140 on a Kayo annual subscription – after the sports streaming service slugged customers with a big price rise

  •  Sneaky workaround can save $140 annually
  •  Kayo has recently raised subscription prices

A pair of footy fans have revealed a clever way of saving $140 on a yearly subscription to Kayo just after the sports streaming service jacked up prices.

Kayo Basic will increase its monthly subscription fee from $27.99 to $30 on April 3rd, bringing the yearly cost to $360.

New customers to the service were hit with the price increase at the beginning of February.

Now two Adelaide-based AFL fans from the Heaps About Nothing podcast have found a perfectly legal hack that will save fans big money on the streaming service.

Instead of signing up directly to Kayo, Jared and Todd encourage fans to get access to the service through buying digital membership to an AFL club, which will give them access to Kayo at a far cheaper price.

As streaming services continue to slug customers with price rises, a couple of footy fans have revealed a clever way of saving $140 on a yearly subscription to Kayo

Many AFL clubs offer this service, but the cheapest one available currently is through the Western Bulldogs.

‘Go to the Western Bulldogs website,’ Todd explains in a now viral TikTok clip.

‘You’re gonna go to memberships. You’re gonna go to digital membership. You get 12 months of Kayo for free. You get a membership pack, lanyard and scarf – you can throw that in the bin. All for $220.

‘So you’re saving yourself $140. Bang. If you’re into sport and you’ve got Kayo delete it now. Sign up to the Western Bulldogs.’

Daily Mail Australia can’t verify that customers will receive a scarf and lanyard, as the podcasters claim. The Western Bulldogs website does indicate members will get 10% off products at the Bulldogs shop.

‘Go Bulldogs,’ says Jared.

Kayo isn’t the only streaming service to up its prices lately, with Stan, Disney+ and Binge all increasing subscription rates in the last 12 months.

Kayo’s reasoning for the price hike is that it ‘reflects ongoing investment in content for Kayo to deliver two concurrent streams of the biggest local sports like the AFL and NRL and the best from around the world including Formula 1, Cricket, NBA, Golf and more’.

The streaming service hinted that there might be more price hikes on the way, too.

‘As we continually look to bring you the best sporting content globally and improve your Kayo experience, our subscription prices may change,’ the Kayo website reads.
