American Airlines has been rolling out new and improved amenity kits – and here we ‘unbox’ the bag the carrier’s first and business-class passengers will be offered.

The bespoke kits are by Los Angeles-based luxury leather accessory company This is Ground and feature products from top beauty brand Allies of Skin.

There’s ‘pH-optimal, silicone-free hand and face creams rich in essential fatty acids that boost repair’ – both 8ml – and ‘a shea butter lip balm infused with argan oil that nourishes chapped lips’.

The goody bag also contains unbranded mouthwash, a cleverly designed toothbrush that clicks into a protective holder, Crest toothpaste, tissues, ear plugs, an eye mask, socks and a pen with ‘Aviator’ written on it.

The bag itself feels very well made.

It can be laid down flat and opened fully up, book-style, with the toiletries and tissues neatly held in place on one side by a piece of leather that’s been stitched in loops to form multiple ‘holders’.

The pen, ear plugs, socks and eye mask are all in a big pocket on the other side.
