American Idol vet Colton Dixon and wife Annie welcome identical twin daughters: ‘We are over the moon’

American Idol vet Colton Dixon is now the proud father of identical twin daughters.

Dixon’s wife Annie gave birth to Ava Dior Dixon and Athens Elizabeth Dixon on August 18, the singer’s rep confirmed to People.

‘Everyone meet Athens Elizabeth and Ava Dior Dixon. We are over the moon to experience life with these twin girls,’ the 28-year-old and his wife told the website.

‘They truly are our two little miracles.’

The couple shared black-and-white images of their newborn girls with the site, which showed their tiny feet wrapped in hospital anklets.

Ava weighed seven pounds, one ounce at birth, and Athens came in at five pounds, six ounces, according to People.

Initially, Colton believed his wife was pregnant with just one child before learning they were actually expecting twins.

‘I went in to the ultrasound too excited to sit, so I stood as our technician started showing us a first glimpse of our baby,’ he previously told People. ‘Before I knew it, I was back in the chair trying to wrap my head around TWINS!’

Earlier this month, Colton posted an adorable snap of two pairs of baby shoes sitting beside their own.

Colton met Annie while rehearsing for the American Idol tour in 2012, after coming in seventh place on the show.   

The couple tied the knot in Nashville in 2016.
