Aston Villa did not request for their clash with Tottenham to be postponed until Saturday

REVEALED: Aston Villa did not request for their clash with Tottenham to be postponed until Saturday, which led to Fulham’s game against Jose Mourinho’s men being rearranged at just 48 hours notice

  • Aston Villa’s game with Spurs was called off due to Covid outbreak in their camp
  • The Premier League said Villa had requested for Spurs game to be postponed
  • Fulham were furious as their game was subsequently moved at 48 hours notice

Aston Villa didn’t submit an official request for their clash against Tottenham to be postponed until Saturday, Sportsmail can reveal.

Fulham manager Scott Parker has been infuriated after the Premier League rearranged their previously postponed clash against Spurs for Wednesday at just 48 hours notice.

Jose Mourinho’s side were due to be facing Villa on Wednesday but Dean Smith’s squad has been ravaged by a Covid outbreak which put the game versus Spurs in doubt.

However, Villa did not make an official request for the game against Tottenham to be postponed until Saturday.

Fulham’s main gripe has been at the lack of official notice they were given about the Spurs game, Parker raising questions over why Fulham weren’t notified of the potential rescheduling at the end of last week.

However, there was no request for the Premier League to action as Villa did not lodge their correspondence until just hours before Fulham’s game against QPR on Saturday.

Fulham were informed of the possibility of playing Spurs before before their game against QPR kicked off.

The Premier League, following an immediate board meeting to consider Villa’s request, approved the fixture changes on Monday morning.
