A fast food fanatic has become the first person ever to finish a ridiculous 5km burger challenge – and he even had room for double dessert.

The diner, known only as James, travelled from Baulkam Hills to Cessnock to attempt the Khartoum Hotel 5kg Burger Challenge on Saturday May 1.

Not only did he smashed the challenge, making him the first of 55 challengers to actually complete the burger, but he did so in under 30 minutes.

The mammoth feed is comprised of a large bun, two beef patties, eight slices of cheese, beetroot, eggs and bacon, as well as the usual helping of lettuce and tomato.

The Khartoum Hotel 5kg burger challenge involves eating a massive burger that’s as big as the average dinner plate, as well as onion rings, chips and wedges all in under 30 minutes.

The Khartoum Hotel took to Facebook to share James’ successful challenge saying challengers have come from far and wide despite all but James failing.

He will now be immortalised on the pub’s ‘Legends Board’.

‘There has been 55 (challengers) have come from a very wide area to take it on with varying results,’ the post read.

‘Some have thrown in the towel or should I say knife and fork with only 12 minutes gone, others have used the full 30 minutes with varying degrees of completion but the vast majority have hit the wall at about 18 to 20 minutes,’ the pub explained.

The Khartoum Hotel said James had ‘smashed’ the challenge and set the bar for future contenders.

Each time someone fails the challenge the prize jackpot increased, meaning James took home $650 from the 55 failed challengers before him.

The prize has been reset at $100 and the challenge still stands at 30 minutes for anyone willing.

Incredibly James still had some room left over after the gigantic feed, he went on to order a double serving of cheesecake for dessert.

The public was quick to hit the comments to share their amazement at the feat.

‘Wow great work! Glad I don’t need to feed him everyday,’ one wrote.

‘I never thought it would be done personally, well done,’ another applauded.

‘How on earth did he leave room for dessert,’ a third marvelled.
