BGT’s Myra Dubois admits she asked Amanda Holden’s consent before their ‘impromptu’ semi-final duet

Britain’s Got Talent act Myra Dubois has let fans into some behind-the-scenes details of her semi-finals duet with judge Amanda Holden.

Talking to hosts Bobby Norris and Stephen Leng on Thursday during their Access All Areas show on FUBAR Radio, the drag queen alleged that she had to get 49-year-old Amanda’s consent before the performance.

During the semi-finals last month, Myra invited Amanda up stage where they sung a duet to I Know Him So Well by Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson.

At the time, cynical viewers took to Twitter to accuse the performance of being ‘staged’ and ‘too convenient’ as it coincided with Amanda releasing her own cover of the classic 1984 song from the album and musical Chess with Sheridan Smith.    

Addressing the speculation on Thursday’s show, Myra said: ‘Of course it was f**king staged. It’s prime time Saturday night television! Of course you’ve got to plan what you’re doing.’

Myra was sure to assure, however, that the duo didn’t rehearse and Amanda had no idea what Myra would be doing.

She continued: ‘We didn’t rehearse it. She didn’t know what she was going to do. She just knew that I was going to get her up on stage because I had to have her consent.’

Talking about the coincidence of Amanda releasing the same song with Sheridan for her new album Songs From My Heart, Myra savagely continued: ‘It wasn’t her idea to do that song or do that duet.

‘It was my idea but she engineered that very well didn’t she. Releasing the single the day before with Sheridan Smith!’

Myra added: ‘I didn’t know she had mini disks to flog did I? It was only until after the event that I found out she was doing the song with Sheridan b****y Smith!’

The drag queen also brutally labelled the duet a ‘pain in the back side’ and ‘an imposition’. 

MailOnline has contacted both Britain’s Got Talent and Amanda’s representatives for comment. 

At the time of the performance, cynical viewers took to Twitter to accuse the performance of being ‘pre-planned’ and ‘too convenient’.

One person said: ‘Seriously Wtf ! How staged was this ? Convenient that ( it’s all about me ) Amanda Holden is releasing an album featuring Sheridan Smith singing the same song ! Bore off #BGT.’ 

A different fan put: ‘Amanda Holden sings a song on stage that she conveniently is releasing. What a joke #bgt.’ 

While another follower added: ‘#BGT Amanda singing during Myra’s bit was a bit too convenient for comic effect – pre planned??’ 

Amanda’s new album Songs From My Heart is set to be released on Friday October 2 and she will perform on Saturday’s episode of Britain’s Got Talent.   

Talking about Songs From My Heart in a statement last month, Amanda said: ‘People think they know who I am because they see me being loud and outrageous on the television or radio. 

‘That is a part of me but really I’m all about my family. This album is all the songs I’ve loved in my life, sung for the people who mean the most to me. It’s a very emotional album that everyone can relate to.’

She added: ‘ I had a tape recorder as a little girl and would sing into it dreaming of this moment.

‘There is a story behind every song on the album, celebrating life, love and loss – the darkest and happiest moments in my life so far. It is literally my heart laid bare.’ 

Songs From My Heart is set to be released on October 2.
