Joe Biden celebrated Wednesday night raising a record-setting $383 million in September, fortifying his efforts to win the White House – but his campaign manager warns the election is ‘far closer’ than his supporters think.

‘To every person who chipped in a few dollars last month — thank you. Because of your support, we raised an astounding $383 million. I’m incredibly humbled,’ Biden tweeted along with a video of him calling a contributor from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

‘There’s still more work to be done, but I wanted to share the good news with Trimicka, one of our grassroots supporters,’ he wrote of the phone call.

Biden’s Campaign Manager Jen O’Malley Dillion wrote in a six-part Twitter thread Wednesday evening: ‘Millions of Americans, like Trimicka from the video, chose to donate $5, $10 to be part of this campaign — because they believe in unity over division, truth over lies, hope over fear, and love over hate.’

While the newly released numbers from last month do exhibit growing support for the Democratic nominee, many are still concerned that President Donald Trump could come out on top in November.

‘Our success has been driven by our grassroots supporters,’ O’Malley Dillion tweeted, earlier referencing in the thread that the latest number is a record for Biden for a single month of fundraising.

She broke down the numbers: ‘$203 million came from online donors. We had 1.1 million new donors last month — bringing the total to 5.5 million donors throughout this campaign. And as a result, we have $432 million in the bank.’

‘Early voting is already underway in many states. Millions of voters have already cast their ballots. But there is still a long way to go in this campaign, and we think this race is far closer than folks on this website think. Like a lot closer,’ she said in reference to Biden’s supporters on Twitter.

‘The next few weeks are going to be hard. I tell our team every week that ‘we can do hard things,’ O’Malley Dillion wrote, adding a link to a page for supporters to sign up for a Grassroots Summit taking place Friday.

The fundraising haul comes as October has so far been riddled with controversy, including the confirmation hearings for contested Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett – and a new report with further evidence of potential Ukrainian corruption involving Biden’s son Hunter.

Even though Biden’s campaign recognizes the close nature of the election, poll numbers still show the former vice president with a double digit lead on Trump.

A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released Thursday shows 53 per cent of registered voters plan to cast their ballot for Biden to the 42 per cent who say they will vote for Trump – a margin of 11 points just three weeks before the election.

The new survey, taken October 9-12 among 1,000 registered voters, shows that 6 in 10 respondents believe the country is worse off than it was four years ago. And more than half, 53 per cent, claim Trump will further divide the country if elected for another term, rather than unite it.
