Boris Johnson’s minder in foul-mouthed altercation leaving Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid shocked

Boris Johnson’s minder yells ‘for f*** sake’ at GMB reporter LIVE on air as he tries to interrupt PM’s milk round – leaving Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid shocked – before Tory leader hides in a FRIDGE to avoid interview

Boris Johnson‘s exasperated media minder swore on live TV today as the PM refused to speak to Good Morning Britain and was accused of hiding in a fridge as he started an early milkround in Yorkshire.

Piers Morgan was visibly shocked and Susanna Reid had her head in her hands as Mr Johnson’s press secretary Robert Oxley declared ‘for f***s sake’ and blocked the path of GMB’s roving reporter Jonathan Swain.

The Tory leader, who was delivering milk in the marginal seat of Pudsey, West Yorkshire, this morning, has repeatedly refused to appear on the ITV1 show.

Mr Swain confronted Boris as he put milk crates in a van and said: ‘Morning Prime Minister will you come on Good Morning Britain? Will you deliver on your promise to speak to Piers and Susanna?’.

A tired-looking Mr Oxley loudly muttered: ‘For f***s sake’ as his boss ignored the calls and wandered into a large walk-in fridge.

He later returned with a crate of orange juice and was asked if he would keep his promise to appear on GMB and replied: ‘Of course I will’ – but with the polls opening tomorrow he refused to say when.

Piers Morgan said today that Mr Johnson had ‘bottled it on the bottle run’, adding: ‘Cowardice is never a good look’.

In a direct message to Boris he said: ‘I’ve known you for 25 years. What’s the matter with you? You’re a good bloke normally, you have no problem with interviews, you bluster your way through them. Why would you rather look like a bottle job?’.

Boris Johnson has been fighting a number of media battles after refusing to be interviewed by the BBC’s Andrew Neil or appear on GMB or Channel 4.

Veteran broadcaster Mr Neil has also hit out angrily, saying he had planned a half-hour interview focused almost entirely on whether Mr Johnson could be trusted.

Aides accused the BBC of ‘losing the plot’ over the issue and predicted the row ‘will not cost us a single vote.’

This week Boris also suffered a TV disaster when he grabbed an ITV reporter’s phone and put it in his pocket as the journalist tried to make him look at a photo of Jack Williment-Barr on the floor of Leeds General Infirmary.

An ITV journalist showed him a picture of Jack lying on the floor at the hospital and asked him to look at it.

In a clip of the interview posted on Twitter, the reporter said to Mr Johnson: ‘You refuse to look at the photo. You’ve taken my phone and put it in your pocket, Prime Minister.’

Mr Johnson then took the phone out of his pocket, looked at the photo on the screen, and said: ‘It’s a terrible, terrible photo. And I apologise obviously to the families and all those who have terrible experiences in the NHS.’

Pro-Labour activists found out about Mr Hancock’s visit to the hospital and urged activists to rush there to stage a protest, even offering to pay for cabs.

A leaked message sent to supporters yesterday afternoon read: ‘Urgent. Matt Hancock is at LGI [Leeds General Infirmary] now – we need people to get down there and kick off. Urgent, urgent. We can pay for ANY taxis there if needed.’

Footage from outside the hospital showed a handful of protesters shouting: ‘Shame on you, Matt Hancock. Children sleeping on the floor in hospital’ as the Health Secretary left in a car.

One shouted at Mr Hancock: ‘We don’t want you in our country.’ There were reports that an aide to the Health Secretary had been punched by one of the protesters, but video of the confrontation proved this was incorrect.
