Bournemouth waiting for permission from MLS side CF Montreal to speak to Thierry Henry over vacant manager’s position with the Arsenal legend interested in holding discussions

Bournemouth are waiting for permission to speak to Thierry Henry about their managerial vacancy.
The Cherries are aware that the Arsenal legend is interested in discussing the role with them.
However, they cannot open formal discussions until given the green light by MLS club CF Montreal, where Henry has been head coach since 2019.

Sources say Bournemouth are keeping their options open and other names still feature on their shortlist to replace Jason Tindall, including Patrick Vieira and David Wagner.
But the prospect of bringing Henry to Dean Court is an enticing one for the club’s hierarchy, especially given the lure his name could prove when it comes to recruitment and sponsorship.
CF Montreal told Sportsmail they would not comment on the situation.
Henry’s former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke about the links between the Gunners great and the Bournemouth managerial position.
He said during punditry for BeIN Sports on Wednesday: ‘I knew a little bit about Patrick Vieira, when he was in the frame, but Thierry Henry, being at Montreal, I didn’t expect him to leave.
‘But it’s a good club, Bournemouth, and I think a good test as well for somebody.
‘They have good players and they work well, so I think it’s a great platform for a young manager to show that he can do it in England enough to go to the Premier League.’

Henry is still in the early days of his managerial career. He worked as Belgium assistant to Roberto Martinez before taking over at Monaco in October 2018.
However he endured a nightmare time in Ligue 1 and lasted only three months in charge. Less than a year later he got his next managerial position in the MLS with Montreal, signing a two-year deal until the end of the 2021 season with an option to extend it by a further year.
Henry’s appointment would be seen as a headline coup but also as a gamble, with Bournemouth targeting a straight return to the Premier League.
The Cherries sit sixth in the Championship, eight points off the automatic promotion places and six ahead of Cardiff outside of the playoff positions.
