  • Holyfield, 58, retired in 2011 but is hoping to face Mike Tyson later this year
  • The pair fought twice, with the Real Deal winning both of their bitter clashes
  • The American believes a bout with Iron Mike could be worth $100million

Evander Holyfield is training with fellow heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko as the American bids to make a sensational return to the sport in a trilogy bout with Mike Tyson.

The 58-year-old has teased a return to the ring for the first time since retiring 10 years ago, revealing last month that he was in talks with Iron Mike over a rematch in Dubai this year.

Holyfield has two wins over his 54-year-old rival, the second of which ended with disqualification for Tyson after the Brooklyn-born heavyweight infamously bit his rival’s ear.

And having seen Tyson back in action late last year against multi-weight champion Roy Jones Jr, the Real Deal is eager to make a return himself and is keeping himself in top condition with Klitschko.

The American posted an image of himself with the 44-year-old on Instagram following a session, with the Ukrainian also interested in returning to the sport having retired after his KO defeat to Anthony Joshua in 2017.

Klitschko ended his career with a record of 64 wins, five losses as he dominated the heavyweight ranks alongside brother Vitali for the best part of a decade.

‘Putting in work today with my man @klitschko #TEAMHOLYFIELD,’ the 58-year-old wrote alongside the image.

Holyfield believes that, despite becoming good friends with Tyson in retirement, boxing fans would want to see the pair clash for a third time in a bout he believes would generate multi-millions for each fighter.

‘I think it will be a lot of money and a lot of millions,’ he told the Last Stand Podcast. ‘I think $100m (£72m). The fight would be big because so many people want the fight.

‘We’re the top two guys people want to see. There’s no reason to do it with anybody else other than Tyson.

‘The only thing that I hear people talking about [is] they want Tyson and myself. And you know, this is what the world wants to see. But you’re not in that situation, so you have to want to do it. So, I guess we have to come together and do it.’

A trilogy fight against Tyson would represent a big comeback for Holyfield, who hasn’t got into the boxing ring since 2011 when he beat Brian Nielsen.
