Boy, 12, is arrested on suspicion of possessing a gun after a resident was threatened at their home in Greater Manchester

  • Armed officers rushed to a home on Firwood Crescent in Radcliffe, Bury, Sunday 
  • Boy and a man fled the scene with suspected firearm and a knife
  • 12-year-old boy was hauled into custody but the adult suspect remains at large 
  • House around a mile away from incident was being searched by officers tonight 

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a gun after a resident was threatened at their home in Greater Manchester.

Armed officers rushed to a home on Firwood Crescent in Radcliffe, Bury, just after 4.30pm on Sunday.

Nobody was seriously injured but a man and a boy were able to flee with a suspected firearm and a knife. 

The 12-year-old boy was later hauled into custody by officers but the adult suspect remains at large.

A house on Queen Street, around a mile away from the incident, was still being searched on Sunday night in connection with the incident. 

Pictures taken at the scene this evening show two police vehicles parked outside a house.

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: ‘Shortly after 4.30pm on Sunday 29 November 2020, police were called to Firwood Crescent in Radcliffe to reports that threats involving firearms had been made towards an occupant.

‘Specialist officers attended and a man and boy fled armed with a suspected firearm and knife.

‘No-one is believed to have been seriously injured.’
