Bridgerton writer lists LA home for $4million which comes with a 1,000 square foot master bedroom

A writer behind Netflix‘s smash period drama Bridgerton is selling his lavish Los Angeles home for $4 million 25 years after buying it for just $600,000.

Oliver Goldstick, 60, an award-winning television writer and producer whose other credits include ‘Pretty Little Liars, ‘Ugly Betty’ and ‘Desperate Housewives,’ hopes to sell his four bedroom Los Feliz property for the seven-figure sum, with many of its features as luxurious as those found in the lavish stately homes of the TV drama whose second series he is currently working on.

The 4,500-square-foot Mediterranean-style home, known as Casa Amarilla, boasts three floors, high ceilings and spacious rooms, including a 1,000-square foot master bedroom with its own spa-like bathroom.

‘The house is like a secret from the street, and I love that,’ Goldstick told Mansion Global. ‘You have no idea looking from the outside that it’s many levels with high ceilings and magnificent views.’

‘It’s totally private,’ he added. ‘You sit in the bathroom and you’re looking over the city. It is pretty extraordinary.’

There are two additional bedrooms on the top floor of the mansion, which provided Goldstick, his partner and their two teenage sons plenty of space during quarantine.

‘There are a lot of big, gracious rooms,’ said Dorothy Carter, the agent for Douglas Elliman who is listing the property, ‘but there’s also a lot of flex-space as well.’

The mansion has a chef’s kitchen, which opens up into a cozy family room, according to the Sacramento Bee. It also has a formal dining room with nine-foot ceilings, a loft above the living room, a home-office with its own bathroom, a minstrels’ gallery and multiple patios overlooking the celebrity city.

On clear days, Goldstick said, you can see all the way to Catalina Island.

‘You don’t feel like you’re that high above the city until you’re inside,’ he said, ‘and then you realize, ‘Oh it really does open up the entire city.’

The exterior of the home has manicured landscaping, a 40-foot in-ground pool and a yurt nestled into the hillside that Goldstick and his family currently use as a gym and yoga studio.

‘This warm, beautifully-preserved historic home, dating back to the silent-screen era is a rare find,’ the Douglas Elliman listing reads, saying it is an easy walk to the ‘trendy shops of Vermont and Hillhurst, the trails of Griffith Park, and a brief commute to most of the studios of the downtown.’

The mansion, with its own dancing and party space, has been the site of many weddings, fundraisers and concerts over the years, and Goldstick’s family has hosted more than 100 people inside at a time for concerts and other events.

Other Los Feliz residents include Kristen Bell, Jon Hamm, Colin Farrell, James Cameron and Angelina Jolie.

Goldstick and his partner bought the house for $600,000 in 1996, and have resided there for over 25 years, while Goldstick worked on his shows, for which he has received several awards including a Golden Globe, Writers Guild Award, three People’s Choice Awards, GLAAD Award, NAACP Image Award and a Peabody Award, according to IMDB.

His work on the ABC Family show ‘Pretty Little Liars’ made it an international success, and Bridgerton has become Netflix’s highest-rated series ever, with 82 million viewers after it debuted on Christmas Day 2020.

The first season of the period drama, set in the Regency era which spanned from 1811 to 1820, tells the story of London heiress Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, and her attempts to bag a suitable husband.

She concocts a scheme with rakish bachelor Lord Simon Hastings, played by Rege-Jean Page, to fake a romance to make them appear more desirable, but matters are complicated when the pair fall in love with one another.

Producers are currently working on the second season of Bridgerton, which will tell the story of Daphne’s older brother Anthony, played by Jonathan Bailey, and his attempts to find a love.

Hollywood icon Dame Julie Andrews narrated the show, and voiced the part of mysterious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown, whose true identity was later revealed to be one of the show’s main characters.

The series is based on the Bridgerton romance novels by US author Julia Quinn.
