Brisbane Broncos star Payne Haas has welcomed a baby daughter just two months after being fined $50,000 by the NRL and suspended over an explosive showdown with three police officers.

The 21-year-old’s partner Leilani Mohenoa gave birth to their first child, Lalita Haas, during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The couple took to their Instagram accounts on Monday to announce the exciting news, with Haas sharing a photo of his newborn daughter nestled against his chest.

Meanwhile, Ms Mohenoa posted a photo of their little girl sleeping in a pink onesie, tucked beneath a Gucci baby blanket.

‘On May 16 at 4:35am, our baby girl Lalita entered this world,’ she wrote.

‘You are just the most sweetest and special girl. We love you so much.’

Dozens of friends and loved ones flo cked to the comments section to offer their congratulations to the new parents.

Among the well-wishers were some of Haas’ Broncos and NSW teammates including Kotoni Staggs, David Fifita, Nathan Cleary and Josh Addo-Carr.

The NSW Blues front-rower and Ms Mohenoa revealed they were expecting a little girl in November,  both posting pictures of ultrasounds to Instagram.

‘Can’t wait to meet our baby girl,’ Haas wrote.

The joyous news comes after the football player was suspended from the NRL for the first three matches of the season over abusive rant at two police officers after being asked for his ID during a night out in Tweed Heads on January 16.

Haas avoided a conviction and was placed on a two-year good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to charges of intimidating police and offensive language in Tweed Heads Local Court on February 4.

Tweed Heads Local Court heard he told officers ‘suck my d***’ and goaded them to taser him.

‘I’ll f**ken take youse all out, you’re f***wits,’ Haas said, the court heard.

Haas told a female officer: ‘Why you looking at me like that? Cause you’re a woman you think I won’t touch ya?’, the court heard.

The incident occurred in front of Haas’ then-pregnant partner, Ms Mohenoa.

Police dropped one charge of intimidating police, with Haas pleading guilty to the other two charges.

He later issued a public apology for his outburst and said he was committed to learning from the incident and would be a ‘better person’ in the future.

The NRL issued Haas with a breach notice following an integrity unit investigation into the incident proposing the fine and ban.

The financial penalty was the highest fine allowed for a player and NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo said it showed what a dim view the organisation took of Haas’s actions, with other players put on notice.

‘Payne’s conduct was unacceptable. There are no excuses for any form of abuse towards our police force,’ Abdo said.

‘Although most of our players are outstanding role models in the community, we need to do more to ensure better decision making and accountability among our playing group.’

The suspension saw Haas miss Brisbane’s season opener against Parramatta on March 12 as well as the following matches against Gold Coast and Canterbury.

It is not the first time Haas, a NSW and Australian representative, has been in hot water with the integrity unit.

He was fined $20,000 and suspended for the opening four rounds of the 2019 season for failing to comply with an investigation over a matter involving members of his family.
