An Australian cafe has launched an extreme take on the classic meat pie, complete with sticky ‘leather’ ketchup and a syringe oozing with cheese.

Customers have been flocking to Third Wave, a neighbourhood cafe in central Melbourne, after a a video of the decadent dish was posted online.

The $29.90 ‘BBQ Rib Pie’, made up of a traditional pie base with a whole smoked beef rib on top, is being is being lusted after across the country, with many begging the cafe to deliver the dish through popular takeaway service Uber Eats.

But you’d better act fast because it’s only available until December 31st.

‘Okay, I’m literally drooling right now,’ one woman wrote under an Instagram video of the dish.

Opened in 2010, Third Wave serves American diner style breakfast and lunch with a vast menu of coffees and tasty treats.

The venue transforms into a bustling barbecue joint at night, and has been recognised by critics as ‘one of the best American BBQ experiences outside of the US’.

Other standouts on the menu include the $35.90 ‘Rib Pie Burger’, which uses a slow smoked beef rib pie as a patty, with lashings of bacon, house made ketchup and cheddar on top.

There’s also the ‘Wheelbarrow BBQ Challenge’, which features a whopping 1.7 kilos of meat – including a full rack of baby back pork ribs, slow smoked beef ribs, a hunk of smoked brisket and smoked sausages – loaded inside a mini wheelbarrow.

The enormous serving costs $137 and feeds four to six people – but if two of you can finish in 15 minutes, the entire dish is free.
