A rising NRL star has confessed to having ’10 or 11′ beverages at a wild Christmas Eve party before drink driving, and his job is now at risk for the mistake.
Canberra Raiders prop Corey Horsburgh, 23, pleaded guilty to driving under the influence when he faced ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He was disqualified from driving for three months and given a $500 fine, but is yet to face a punishment from the NRL as the integrity unit weighs up its options.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart offered little sympathy to Horsburgh, warning that his starting position in the first grade squad was no longer guaranteed.

‘One thing in the NRL is, there is always someone to take your spot,’ Mr Stuart said.
‘We’ve got plenty of depth and it just gives somebody else an opportunity.
‘It’s not my job to keep a position in this team – it’s their job.’
Fellow Raiders player Harawira-Naera was charged with drink driving in a separate incident on the same night.
Horsburgh told the Canberra Times he was ‘disappointed’ in himself for letting his club down.
‘What I did was wrong,’ he said.
‘I’m disappointed I let the club down, and my family. Not the right decision. I’m just glad it’s all done and just looking forward to playing some football now.’
Harawira-Naera is due to front court on March 25, 2021.
