She briefly spoke out about her infamous 2007 toilet tryst with Sonny Bill Williams during her stint on Channel Seven’s SAS Australia.

And on Wednesday, Candice Warner revealed the one detail she is retrospectively  ‘thankful’ for, 13 years after the incident happened in Clovelly, Sydney.

Speaking on Mamamia’s No Filter podcast, the 35-year-old said: ‘I was very thankful that at that time there was no social media, which would have just been horrendous.’

Speaking out: On Wednesday, Candice Warner revealed the one detail that retrospectively she is ‘thankful’ for 13 years after her infamous ‘toilet tryst’ with Sonny Bill Williams happened in Clovelly, Sydney, in 2007

Candice was caught in a bathroom hook-up with Sonny Bill, 35, during a night out at the Clovelly Hotel in Sydney back in 2007.

She added that while social media could have given people a voice to defend her, she still believes it would have been a negative experience if it had existed back then as it does today.

‘There was no social media, so people didn’t have that voice,’ she said, when asked why people didn’t stick up for her. ‘There was no avenue for people to speak up and support.

‘But I think even back then, even if there was social media, it would have been really negative. I really don’t think that 13 years ago people had the courage to speak up.’

Earlier in the month, Candice revealed the incident brought her to a severely dark place, in a heartbreaking interview with The Daily Telegraph.

‘I was almost suicidal. I went through a hell of a lot at such a young age. I got to the point where I literally couldn’t take it anymore,’ she revealed.

Having been just 22 when the incident occurred, Candice said she had a hard time dealing with the public humiliation and the subsequent fallout.

The former Ironwoman spoke about the incident on SAS Australia, branding it her biggest regret.

‘A long time ago when I was young, I got myself in a compromising position, which I regret,’ she began, shifting uncomfortably in her seat.

Chief instructor Ant Middleton then asked Candice to elaborate on what had happened, but she simply called it ‘a personal situation’.
