Cardi B defends Selena Gomez and doesn’t think she should retire: ‘I think she needs one more Era’

Selena Gomez opened up about a number of topics in her Vogue interview, even hinting at retiring, and she’s getting some support from rapper Cardi B.

Gomez, 28, will release her Spanish-language album Revelación on March 12, though she shared, ‘It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously. I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, “What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?”‘

Cardi B, 28, took to Twitter on Thursday, offering her support for the singer and actress, along with a few suggestions and kind words.

‘I don’t think Selena should retire. She makes good music & her fans love her. I think she needs one more Era,’ the rapper said.

She added that she’d like this new era to be, ‘A edgy one that no one ever seen her as. I would love to give her some ideas.

The Bodak Yellow rapper continued in another tweet, ‘I like Selena tho. I defend her cause she is such a sweetheart in person.’

‘Us celebs get picked apart all the time but she is just to sweet to go thru that,’ she added, before offering a final message.

‘If she wants to leave, leave cause you want too not cause of these f***ers,’ Cardi B concluded.

It isn’t immediately clear if Gomez has seen Cardi B’s tweets or not, though it seems she may follow her advice.

‘I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music,’ Gomez said in the Vogue interview.

Revelación is the singer’s first Spanish-language album, which she said in another interview she had wanted to do for years.

‘This has been something I’ve wanted to do for 10 years, working on a Spanish project, because I’m so, so proud of my heritage, and just genuinely felt like I wanted this to happen,’ Gomez said.

‘Just with all the division in the world, there’s something about Latin music that globally just makes people feel things, you know?’ she added.

The album was recorded remotely in a home studio, with the singer using Zoom to communicate with others involved in the album.

The first single, De Una Vez, was released in mid-January, with the second, Baila Conmigo, arriving in late January and the third, Selfish Love, last week.
