Charlize Theron chokes back tears as Kazu Hiro dedicates his Oscar win to her

She narrowly missed out on scooping the Best Actress prize as Renee Zellweger was awarded the honour.

But Charlize Theron was still overwhelmed with emotion as special effects artist Kazu Hiro dedicated his Best Makeup and Hairstyling win to her for their work in Bombshell at the 92nd Academy Awards, held at LA’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday.

The actress and producer, 44, was joined by co-star Margot Robbie as she broke down in tears while burying her head in her palms while Kazu, 50, praised her ‘bravery and passion’.

An honoured Kazu told the audience: ‘We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to Charlize Theron, you’re amazing.

‘You are an amazing actor and producer, and your compassion, love and care made this film possible.

‘Because of your bravery and passion, we are able to set a new power in the make-up industry and create a new way to tell stories. We wouldn’t be getting this award without you.’

Bombshell tells the story of a group of women at Fox News who decide to take action against Roger Ailes.

The network founder and executive — who died in May 2017 — received $40million after resigning from the company in July 2016 amid multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

Numerous allegations against Ailes were made public over the years, which included former Fox journalists Andrea Tantaros, Gretchen Carlson, Shelly Ross and Megyn Kelly sharing their stories of sexual abuse.

Margot, Nicole Kidman, Kate McKinnon, John Lithgow and Rob Delaney also star in the film which was released in December.

Parasite was the first ever South Korean film to be nominated for and win Best Picture, beating out favorite, Sam Mendes’ 1917.

It was a big night for the South Korean hit as filmmaker Bong Joon-ho won Best Director for Parasite, with the film also scooping Best Original Screenplay – the first ever Oscar for South Korea – and Best International Feature.

Renee Zellweger and Joaquin Phoenix earned Best Actress and Actor, respectively, as they along with Best Supporting Actress and Actor winners, Brad Pitt and Laura Dern, completed their award season sweep.
