One paramedic sitting in the passenger seat is heard saying: ‘Sounded like a gun to me.’

Then they both suddenly slid down under the windows after realising shots were being fired right by the ambulance.

The dashcam then shows a black Infiniti zoom past with two men hanging out of the window appearing to fire at least five shots.

Other cars were in the vicinity by the park when the men discharged their guns in broad daylight.

After the car sped off, the paramedics looked around to see if anyone had been hit.

One said: ‘Oh, someone on a bike just got shot.’

They raced over to him to check on his wellbeing but discovered he too was just hiding from the gunfire.

Nobody was injured in the shooting but it shows how dangerous the streets of Chicago can be.

Footage was released yesterday by MedEx.

Michael Pieroni, the company’s chief operating officer, said: ‘Our primary concern is crew safety, but the team put their safety aside and went to the aid of someone else.

‘While nobody was seriously injured in this incident, it illustrates the hazards EMS providers face daily.’
