Chris Eubank Jr follows through on his promise to stake £10,000 on Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez KNOCKING OUT his rival Billy Joe Saunders and pledges to give full winnings to charity

Chris Eubank Jr has shown fans he will put his money where his mouth is, after showing evidence of his £10,000 stake on Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez knocking out Billy Joe Saunders.

Eubank Jr has been vocal in the build up to the contest, stirring the pot and trying to rattle his rival Saunders by claiming he stands little chance against the mighty Mexican.

The 31-year-old had told fans that he was going to be placing a large betting stake on the showdown, and on Tuesday took to his official Instagram page to reveal the slip, processed with bookmakers William Hill.

The £10,000 bet stake was uploaded to Instagram

The betting slip showed fans that Eubank Jr has placed on the full £10,000 he insisted he would, at even odds.

It states that Eubank Jr will double his money if Canelo defeats Saunders by T.K.O or D.Q, and the Hove-born boxer has insisted the full potential winnings will be donated to charity.

Captioning the image, he wrote: ‘The bet has been placed! Billy Schmoe Saunders to get cleaned out by Canelo Alvarez this Saturday. Oh… & the 10k I stand to win will all go to charity.

Saunders has never lost as a professional, yet is a huge underdog against the four-weight world champion Canelo.

Eubank Jr and Saunders have had a long-standing rivalry for several years, and have seemingly traded a war of words from year to year.

Eubank Jr is one of the more illustrious wins on Saunders’ boxing CV, having retained the British middleweight title against him back in 2014 in a blockbuster event which went the distance.

The iconic fight helped both men gain greater standing in the sport, and build on their public profiles as a result.

Speaking of the Canelo – Saunders fight to TalkSport last month, Eubank Jr said: ‘[They are] Different levels.

‘I don’t really feel like Saunders has improved since he last fought me.

‘I think he is the same guy. I am levels and levels above what I was when I first got into the ring with Saunders.

‘I feel like he is the same guy; that guy can’t beat someone like Canelo.’
