When they discussed the criticism of current The Bachelor contestant Rachel Kirkconnell, who was seen at an antebellum-themed sorority party three years earlier, Harrison said it was ‘unbelievably alarming’ to watch people online, ‘tear this girl’s life apart.’

After a significant amount of online backlash, Harrison apologized publicly, and personally to Lindsay, but just days later she revealed she won’t renew her contract with the Bachelor franchise.

Harrison then revealed he’s stepping away from the franchise for an undetermined amount of time, while Lindsay received so much hate online that, just last week, she deactivated her Instagram.

The Bachelor producers released a statement on Monday, just before a new episode of The Bachelor, where they condemned any hatred or harassment towards Lindsay.

‘As Executive Producers of The Bachelor Franchise, we would like to make it perfectly clear that any harassment directed towards Rachel Lindsay in the aftermath of her interview with Chris Harrison is completely inexcusable,’ the statement began.

‘Rachel has received an unimaginable amount of hate and has been subjected to severe online bullying, which, more often than not, has been rooted in racism,’ the statement continued.
