Claudia Winkleman’s disastrous S Club 7 interview where publicist storms TV studio resurfaces

‘Can you not ask this question?!’ Claudia Winkleman’s disastrous S Club 7 interview where publicist storms TV studio resurfaces as group announce 25th anniversary tour

A famous clip of Claudia Winkleman interviewing S Club 7 – with disastrous results – has resurfaced after the group announced they have reunited.

During the pop band’s heyday, Claudia interviewed them for BBC Three’s Liquid News where they appeared to be uncomfortable with her line of questioning.

The group, made up of Jo O’Meara, Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee, Rachel Stevens, Tina Barrett and Paul Cattermole, were asked about their manager’s finances during the awkward chat.

Referring to press reports at the time, Claudia said: ‘Mr Simon Fuller has 90 million in the bank.

‘There are rumours that you guys are grumpy because you guys haven’t made mint…’

Jon said no before Bradley and Hannah pretended to misunderstand her, joking they wished they had an edible mint.

Not letting them off that easy, Claudia pressed: ‘Are you not grumpy about it at all?’

Jo replied: ‘I think we are all really really lucky to be where we are today at our age and have the bank balances that we do have.’

It was at this point that the group’s then-publicist stormed into the TV studio during recording.

She said: ‘Can you not ask this question please… I’m not having it. I’ve tried to stop this and I’ve had to walk in here … we are going.’

Claudia defended her line of questioning, saying: ‘It has been in the papers and they didn’t give a list [of questions that were off the table].

‘You interview all sorts of people and you are sometimes told actually do you know what, don’t ask this… but they seemed fine.’

It comes after S Club 7 recently announced they are reuniting for a special 25th anniversary tour.
