Her owner, Luke Smith, 18, and his girlfriend Hannah Villegas are seen rushing out of their home to the cheeky canine, who is proudly wagging her tail and showing off her work.

In the video, Luke is heard shouting: ‘Gigi, stop!’

However Gigi refuses to move and stay half submerged in the swimming pool.

The footage was originally filmed in May and Luke explained: ‘We had just brought the pool because of the Cali heat and Gigi took to loving it.

‘It was funny because we had just been talking about how much she loved the pool and how she could get in and out of it with no problems. Boy were we wrong.’

The 18-year college football player revealed he was upstairs in his home before realizing what Gigi was getting up too and instantly pulled out his phone to record her antics.

He was left nearly speechless when he saw the pooch with her two front paws resting on the wall of the swimming pool, as the water flooded out.

He recalled: ‘We were upstairs and heard rushing water outside so I walked into the kitchen to get to the back door and saw water through the glass.

‘I instantly pulled out my phone to record what was happening.

‘My girlfriend and I walked out to Gigi standing half in half out of the pool, and the entire backyard was flooded.’
