Ready for the Olympics! Singer Cody Simpson, 24, slips into a pair of tight black Speedos at a swim competition as he sets his sights on Paris 2024

Cody Simpson is on the road to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

And the 24-year-old singer proved on Thursday why he’ll have no shortage of fans on his journey to gold medal glory.

Sporting a pair of black Speedos, Cody turned heads in and out of the pool as he competed at the Australian National Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast.

Cody looked every inch the Adonis as he faced off against his rivals and tried to beat his personal best.

The sandy-haired musician later flaunted his tattoo collection as strolled by the pool carrying a pair of flippers and a water bottle.

He had a serious expression on his face in the pool, but was soon smiling after finishing his race.

Before flying into his home town, Cody and his girlfriend Marloes Stevens, who have been dating since December, completed 14 days of mandatory quarantine.

The pair served their quarantine in Howard Springs, Darwin.

Earlier this year, Cody revealed to The New York Times what inspired him to jump back into the pool and compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He said he realised he still had a shot after seeing American swimmer Caeleb Dressel – who is five months his junior – beat a record set by Michael Phelps in 2019.

‘I stopped drinking that night and started finding pools the next day,’ Cody said.

Despite having an incredibly successful music career that saw him discovered on YouTube and signed by an American record label in 2010 at the age of 13, his childhood Olympic dreams were bigger.

‘I love the music industry very much, and I’ll continue to be a musician long into my life, but it’s not as pure of a pursuit as sport, which just comes straight down to the clock,’ he told The New York Times.

In December, Cody’s swimming coach Brett Hawke told The Daily Telegraph that Cody wants to make the 2024 Paris Olympics and win gold in the 100m butterfly.

‘The goal is Paris 2024, certainly not Tokyo. You’ll have three years to watch him progress,’ Hawke said.

Hawke, a former freestyle Olympic swimmer, also said of Cody’s determination: ‘It’s 5am in LA and we are about to dive into a cold pool. If I didn’t see potential I would be in bed right now.’

It comes after Cody announced he’d qualified for the Australian swimming trials by swimming the 100m butterfly in 54.9 seconds, beating the benchmark of 56.87 seconds.
