A Coles worker has revealed the secret behind their delicious and ever popular roast chickens. 

The young woman said the deliciously crispy skin is down to the copious amounts of seasoning poured onto the chickens before they are roasted in store.

A Coles employee from Perth, Western Australia, posted the secret to the chickens on TikTok, showing exactly how the roast birds are prepared throughout the shift.

‘We place the chickens on the racks and season them so they are nice and crispy,’ the teenager wrote.

The video shows the young woman preparing the oven to cook the chickens, preheating the oven to 220c.

She then takes the raw chickens from their individual yellow bags before seasoning them.

Before they go in the oven the worker gives them one more coating of seasoning.

After an hour and 15 minutes in the giant commercial oven the chickens are removed.

The oven sis placed on self-cleaning mode and the worker laughs as she struggles to place the chickens in a bag.

A former Coles employee reflected on how times have changed.

‘About 15 years ago when I worked at Coles, we had to crack their wings down so they looked nice,’ one woman said.

A Woolworths worker appeared obsessed with the video and said they were jealous of the ‘much better design’ of the competitor’s ovens.
