‘If you think positively, your cells will renew themselves’: Coronation Street legend Bill Roache, 88, believes he is getting YOUNGER every year
He is the icon of the cobbles, having appeared on more than 4,500 episodes of Coronation Street since it first hit screens 60 years ago.
And soap legend Bill Roache, 88, has admitted that he believes he is getting younger every year due to thinking positively.
The actor also insisted that he has no plans to retire his character Ken Barlow as the soap gears up to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Bill told The Sun: ‘I’m getting younger every day. A lot of it is just belief.
‘It’s a collective consciousness, ”Oh I am too old for this”. It’s all in the mind. I wasn’t joking when I said I was getting younger every year.
‘If you think positively, your cells will renew themselves all the time. If you go down, the renewal process will go down. If you stay up, the renewal process will go up. You don’t have to age as much as people think. I’m not, anyway.’

Since first appearing on the cobbles on December 9, 1960, Bill – who has the Guinness World Record for the longest-serving male television star in a continuous role – has remained a fixture on the ITV soap.
Last month, Bill joined fellow Corrie icon Barbara Knox, 87, who plays Rita Tanner, to return to the soap’s set in Manchester and film for the show’s sixtieth anniversary special.
