Crust Pizza has permanently slashed the price of its most popular premium pizzas after a dramatic spike in orders during the first Covid-19 lockdown.

Australia’s leading pizza chain has lowered the price of eight flavours from its classic and signature ranges to just $11, with traditional best-sellers including pepperoni, Hawaiian, Margherita and Capricciosa among those discounted.

Gourmet toppings have also been reduced, with toppings like prosciutto and rocket, peri peri beef and spinach and feta all marked down to the cost of a lunchtime sandwich.

Classic flavours were previously $15 while signature styles were $19 – that’s savings of $4 or $8 depending on which pizza you order.

The reductions apply to all medium-sized 11-inch pizzas from the classic and signature menus.

Crust has sold an incredible 5.4million pizzas in the past year, with orders soaring during the first coronavirus lockdown which lasted from March to May across most parts of Australia.

Head of Retail Jess Buchanan said the price drop was introduced in recognition of the need for more affordability in takeaway food as the country continues through its first recession in three decades.

‘By lowering the price…we can invite more people to experience our premium pizzas,’ Ms Buchanan said.
