But it appears Daniel MacPherson is getting the new year off to a more positive start, as he pushed through his heartache to focus on his fitness with a sweaty poolside workout on Thursday – while wearing nothing but blue budgie smugglers.
The 40-year-old actor, who is currently in his hometown of Cronulla in Sydney, took a short video of himself enjoying a ‘summer session’ of lifting weights in the sunshine.

The former Neighbours star was seen smiling widely as he showed off his dripping muscles and washboard abs, and gave his followers just a tiny glimpse of his minuscule swimwear in the process.
He appeared in high spirits as he gazed at the camera, sporting a pair of oversized sunglasses to protect his eyes from the beaming sun.
He then posted two photos with his doting mum Annie, joking the water was ‘too cold for her’ as they spent some quality time together.

Daniel and Zoë, 39, announced their split on Instagram just before Christmas, after five years of marriage.
The couple first met on the set of TV series Wild Boys in 2011, and became engaged over Christmas 2014 after four years together.
‘With the greatest respect for each other, Zoë and I have separated,’ Daniel captioned a photo of them both overlooking a sunset.

The pair shared one-year-old son Austin together, and appear to still be on very friendly terms.
He continued: ‘Together, we will continue wholeheartedly to raise our beautiful boy Austin. He is, and will forever be, our greatest priority.
‘We ask for your respect and will be making no further comment.’
