Today Extra host David Campbell says he hopes ‘the new normal’ habits like wearing face masks and social distancing become PERMANENT even after the pandemic ends

David Campbell has revealed that he hopes some parts of the ‘new normal’ instilled by the pandemic carry on after it ends

In a column for Stellar on Saturday, the 47-year-old wrote that would like to see habits like wearing face masks and social distancing continue – permanently.

He said: ‘I wish for some parts of the new normal to last, like rigorous hand-washing and social-distancing in places with lots of people.

Always? David Campbell (pictured) has revealed that he hopes some parts of the ‘new normal’ instilled by the pandemic carry on after it ends. In a column for Stellar, he wrote that would like to see habits like wearing face masks and social distancing continue – permanently

‘Masks in flu season. Most doctors and armchair epidemiologists agree: these are great new practices for us to adopt permanently.’

David noted that these practices can continue as the country gets back to a semblance of normality.

‘As I have said before, bring back the lost jobs and industries. Let’s all get back to theatres, cinemas, gigs and the footy.

‘I’ll wear a mask with my Swannies colours on it,’ he added.

David also hopes the challenges faced by everyone would inspire people to continue practicing certain things we’ve been forced to adopt this year.

After getting through a pandemic and the horrific bush fires together, the TV host believes that more ‘kindness’ is needed.

‘When push comes to shove, we can think of one another and not just ourselves. We can drink from that cup of kindness yet,’ the father-of-three said.
