Demi Lovato says her anxiety and depression have ‘come back in waves’

Demi Lovato’s anxiety and depression have ‘come back in waves’ during lockdown.

The OK Not To Be OK hitmaker admitted she has found it hard being unable to socialize as much due to the coronavirus pandemic, which took its toll on her mental health.

‘I’m a very social person and so not being able to see people, I’ve felt very isolated at times and my anxiety and depression has come back in waves and luckily I’ve done a lot of work and I have tools to help me out with that,’ the singer told CNN. ‘But there are a lot of people who don’t have those tools.’

Demi – who was recently seen with Mod Sun – urged others who are struggling not to be too hard on themselves.

She said: ‘Just have compassion. Know that you’re not alone, that a lot of people are going through exactly what you’re going through as well.’

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old star admitted her new song, Commander In Chief features everything she would love to say to President Donald Trump if she had the chance.

She said: ‘There’s been so many times that I’ve wanted to write the President a letter or sit down with him and ask him these questions.

‘And then I thought, I don’t really actually want to do that and I thought one way that I could do that is writing a song and releasing it for the whole world to hear and then he has to answer those questions to everyone and not just me.’

Demi insisted she isn’t looking to provoke division with her lyrics but hopes she can encourage her fans to vote and be politically engaged.

She said: ‘We have to turn up and vote because it’s so important that our voices are heard. And, honestly, for me, whether you are a Republican or Democrat, just get out and vote.’

Lovato was reportedly censored during her performance at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards.

Trying to deal: 'I'm a very social person and so not being able to see people, I've felt very isolated at times and my anxiety and depression has come back in waves and luckily I've done a lot of work and I have tools to help me out with that,' the singer told CNN

The singer delivered a performance of her powerful new ballad Commander In Chief – but it appears an edited version was aired on NBC on Wednesday.

As reported by TMZ, footage of the performance – ‘the way she wanted it to air and it was originally recorded’ – featured the word ‘VOTE’ displayed at the back of the stage.

It’s said the network axed the final message because the track itself is heavily critical of Trump, and the display was a call for people to vote against him.

Meanwhile her ex fiance Max Ehrich has penned a song about his split from Lovato.

The Young And the Restless star has reportedly followed in the footsteps of his former fiancé by writing a song about his relationship with the singer.

It is believed the song will include details of how he felt when he first met Demi, and he is said to confess that he was worried about falling for her because he knew their love was the real deal. In the track, he sings about how he couldn’t sleep because he was so in love with Demi, TMZ reports.

Meanwhile, Max confessed he feels he’s been part of a big ‘calculated PR stunt’ following his split from Demi after she released a song about their break up.

Slamming his former fiancé, he said: ‘It’s just the craziest thing. This is the most bizarre experience that I hope no one ever has to experience, ever. Because no person deserves to feel this way. Pete Davidson didn’t deserve to feel this way. Do you think he wrote that text to Mac Miller? Ha. Open your eyes. Calculated PR stunt, but my team is going to hate me for saying any of this.’

Max insists he was ‘in love’ with Demi, and now feels like he was ‘used’ by her.

He added: ‘I was in love. The whole world should f****** know it. I thought I found the real deal, now I found out that I was used. But I hope the song is number one, because you know what, if that’s what someone wants in the material world, here you go, you have it. I hope this makes you happy. Enjoy. You just lost someone who loved you fully, completely, infinitely, for everything.’
