BREAKING NEWS: Donald Trump CANCELS Thanksgiving trip to Mar-a-Lago to bunker down in the White House amid desperate legal fight to overturn election result

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will spend Thanksgiving at the White House this year.

The first couple generally spends Thanksgiving and Christmas at Mar-a-Lago, nicknamed the ‘winter White House’ through the president’s nearly four years in office.

Trump has been basically out of sight in the 10 days since the major networks called the presidential election for his rival, President-elect Joe Biden – as he bunkers down for an extended legal fight to overturn the results.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will spend Thanksgiving at the White House, the first lady’s spokeswoman tweeted. The president has largely stayed out of sight since the election was called for his rival, President-elect Joe Biden

The first lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham tweeted the news Tuesday night.

‘Holiday Scheduling Update: The @POTUS & @FLOTUS will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday at the White House this year,’ she wrote, including a turkey and an American flag emoji.

Answering questions Monday in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden said he was going to scale-back his own plans as coronavirus cases have spiked around the country.

COVID-19, however, has not prevented Trump from traveling in the past.

He held rally after rally in the run-up to the November 3 general election, hosting primary mask-less crowds in key swing states.

Since the election was called, however, he’s only popped his head up once – to speak publicly in the White House Rose Garden about a promising coronavirus vaccine.

He traveled Saturday and Sunday by motorcade to his Virginia golf resort.

Otherwise the president has communicated to the public via Twitter, while Rudy Giuliani and other members of his legal team try to stop the election results from being certified.
