Donald Trump hosts ANOTHER White House get-together of his most fanatical supporters

President Donald Trump is once again surrounding himself with ultra-loyalists after holding meetings Friday and Sunday with with Sidney Powell and others fanning his election fraud narrative.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla,), who defended Trump during impeachment, was spotted at the White House Monday, as was Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani – who was also on-hand for a Friday meeting with former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell.

Powell and Giuliani have each pitched the idea of using federal power to seize voting machines that they claim are part of a plot to switch votes away from Trump – a claim that conservative media outlets have backed away from under apparent threats of litigation. 

Also spotted was a collection of conservative Republican Trump loyalists – who each could play a role when Congress meets in a joint session Jan. 6 to count the votes submitted by the Electoral College.

Joe Biden beat Trump in the Electoral College vote 306 to 232, but that hasn’t stopped Trump or his allies from seeking ways to overturn the election.

In an unusual display, Gaetz stepped outside the West Wing right across the door from where a U.S. Marine stands guard when the president is there. Gaetz was pictured checking his cell phone.  

Also spotted were conservative firebrand Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mo Brooks of Alabama, who has called to block electors from states where Trump is claiming fraud, Rep. Louie Goehmert of Texas, and representative elect Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has expressed support for the QAnon conspiracy theory. 

They met with the president, Politico reported. 

Their gathering came hours after departing Attorney Gen. Bill Barr dismissed claims of widespread fraud in the election.  

Barr told reporters there was fraud in most elections but referenced his earlier claim, saying he hasn’t seen ‘systemic or broad-based fraud that would affect the outcome of the election.’

‘I stand by that statement,’ Barr said – contradicting Trump, who claims he won.

Barr also gave no quarter to the idea of naming a special counsel to investigate election fraud, despite the president retweeting a slew of claims linked to Powell and meeting with her over the weekend about her ideas to overturn the vote. 

‘If I thought a special counsel at this stage was the right tool and it was appropriate I would name one but I haven’t and I’m not going to,’ Barr said at the Justice Department Monday.

Nor did he get behind a special counsel for Hunter Biden despite Trump’s push to investigate his rival’s son. Barr also said it ‘certainly’ appears Russia was behind a hack on the U.S. government that is still being uncovered.

Powell, the former Trump lawyer has filed ‘Kraken’ lawsuits in states Trump lost and wants the government to seize voting machines to inspect them amid her own claims of a conspiracy involving Venezuela, Cuba, China, and machines that allegedly ‘flipped’ votes from Trump to Biden. 

When the Congress meets in joint session, if a member of each chamber objects to a slate of electors, it forces both houses to debate the objection and vote to certify the electors.
