Borussia Monchengladbach boss Marco Rose admits he has been affected by angry fan reaction at news he will be appointed as Borussia Dortmund boss this summer.

In the first game since his next move was announced Monchengladbach were stunned 2-1 by Mainz and fans quickly made feelings clear by producing angry signs and banners aimed at the soon-to-be departing manager.

‘It has not been nothing, I admit that,’ Rose told Goal.

‘But I also believe that it has something to do with the fact that we have improved a lot in a year and a half here, and that many people feel that we’re actually not finished yet. I agree with this.’

The passionate Westphalian supporters were beginning to question Rose’s commitment to the club before his summer exit was officially confirmed.

After defeat to Koln in the derby, ultras group FPMG wrote: ‘Anyone who sees the derby as an ideal opportunity to undertake a rotative experiment does not understand Borussia Mönchengladbach.’
