Driver divides opinion after overtaking 20 cars ‘because they can’t read road signs’ as he drives along bus lane… so what would you do?

  • The driver posted the dash-cam footage of him overtaking 20 cars on TikTok
  • Someone commented hat he couldn’t read signs but he posted a follow up clip

This is the moment a driver overtook 20 cars on a busy Bristol street after driving along a bus lane.

In dash-cam footage shared on TikTok, the driver speeds along a bus lane past queuing cars with with the audio ‘Here comes Sebastian Vettel‘ playing in the background.

While praised by most, the driver was slammed by some viewers, with one claiming he ‘can’t read the road’.

But the driver, whose TikTok handle is @theamazingman, posted a follow up video in response.

In the follow-up clip, the driver zooms in on a road sign that says that only between 4pm and 6.30pm are cars not allowed to use the lane, with audio in the background saying ‘Are you dumb?’

The original video is captioned: ‘This is what happens when 20+ cars can’t read road signs. I’d complain but gets me home faster [laughing emoji]’.

The dash-cam footage starts with the car driving along as part of the queue, with F1 commentary used as backing.

Initially there are parking bays filled with vehicles alongside the line of queuing cars.

But these soon stop and turn into a bus lane – which none of the cars queuing appear to want to use.

As the cars in front slow, the driver veers to the left and into the bus lane.

A sign can be seen showing the lane is only off limits to cars between 4pm and 6.30pm Monday to Friday.

However, the video posted appears to show that while it was in fact 4.35pm, it was March 11 – which was a Saturday and therefore outwith the bus lane times.

The driver then accelerates and drives past a long line of waiting cars at high speed.

The video stops before the driver reaches traffic lights.

While some people were outraged at the driver’s manoeuvre, most felt differently.

One TikTok user even saying their driving instructor told them they would fail their test if they did not the the bus lane when it says you can.

Another wrote: ‘Haha I do it all the time, people don’t realise that they are only part time bus lanes. I’ve had a few arguments because people can’t read.’

While another said her dad had someone stop in front of him at the end of the bus lane, get out of the car and have a go at him for driving in it.

‘My dad is a driving instructor [laughing emoji],’ she added.
