Drunk man films moment ‘aggressive’ policeman accuses his Uber driver of speeding – despite admitting it was an ‘estimate’ as he had no radar gun

A drunk passenger claims a cop acted aggressively towards his Uber driver after accusing him of speeding despite not using a radar gun.

TikTok user Danny Burchard was in the backseat of a rideshare car in Melbourne on Friday night when his driver was pulled over by a police officer.

‘I was completely blind. My Uber driver got pulled over and this cop was so aggressive. I don’t have any problem with cops at all but this guy was just a knob,’ the TikTok star said.

The male police officer could be heard in the video yelling at the driver: ‘Stop arguing with me! Just stop bloody arguing with me.’

The driver responded: 'Why are you shouting [at] me?'

The male police officer could be heard in the video yelling at the driver: ‘Stop arguing with me! Just stop bloody arguing with me’

The driver responded: ‘Why are you shouting [at] me?’

‘If you weren’t so argumentative as soon as I started speaking to you,’ the officer yelled back, before the rideshare driver accused the cop of calling him a liar.  

‘Have you caught me with the [speed] gun?’ the driver asked. 

The officer responded: ‘You only want — you know I didn’t get you on the radar. I know you [were speeding] because I know how fast cars are going because I can estimate your speed and I know how fast you were going.

‘And yes I can fine you on an estimation. I know how fast I had to come up here to catch up to you because you were going that fast.

‘Just shut up now,’ the cop said before walking away from the Uber driver’s car.

In a second clip, the officer could be seen breath testing the driver.

‘Alright, that’s clear. You need to slow down and I know how fast you were going,’ he told him.

It’s not clear from the footage whether or not the driver was fined.  

Hundreds of TikTok ursers commented on the video, titled ‘Overly Aggressive cop vs. Uber driver,’ blasting the officer for his hostility.

‘You can’t fine someone based on estimated speed without proof,’ one woman said.

‘He’s not argumentative… he’s sticking up for himself. Good on the driver!’ wrote another.

‘The officer isn’t even making sense. I’m with the Uber driver,’ a third wrote. 

Others praised the Uber driver for standing his ground during the clash with the officer.
