A Dunkin’ Donuts employee has gone viral on TikTok after sharing a video of himself and his co-work throwing out dozens of doughnuts at the end of the night.

Dane Korabik, who uses the handle @korrbs, posted the eye-opening clip on December 13, claiming employees at the location aren’t allowed to eat the food that is being tossed.

‘When we’re required to throw out $100 [worth] of donuts but get fired if we eat them,’ he wrote in the on-screen text.

The footage shows Korabik and his co-worker emptying trays of doughnuts into the trash at the end of their shift. When he is done, he lifts the tray up and down over his head.

Many people thought it was sad that the food was being wasted when it could be donated to people in need.

‘Why they don’t give it to poor people or [donate to] a charity,’ one person asked. ‘This is so sad.’

‘Ever since I found this out, I could never look at Dunkin’ Donuts the same,’ someone else responded.

‘We had a local donut shop donate HUNDREDS of donuts a week to our school’s after-school program,’ someone else shared.

There were also a number of Dunkin’ Donuts employees who were confused, saying their managers always let them take the doughnuts home.

‘I worked at Dunkin’ and took home CASESSSSS,’ one TikTok user claimed. ‘My boss never told me it wasn’t allowed.’

‘My boss literally told us to take some home because they were gonna be thrown away if we didn’t,’ someone else agreed.

‘The Dunkin’ in my hometown gives the leftovers to the local shelters for the homeless,’ another pointed out.

Dunkin’ Donuts has attempted to tackle food waste with the creation of its optional End of Day Donation program.

Participating franchise locations donate bakery items, other shelf-stable foods, and unclaimed catering orders to non-profit community service and hunger relief organizations.

‘With the exception of locations where food donation regulations exist, it is left to the discretion of the individual owner of each restaurant whether or not food is donated at the end of the day,’ according to the company’s website.
