Earthquake Queensland: Brisbane rattled by big quake

Queensland is rattled by 3.0 magnitude earthquake felt by thousands across the state

  • The quake’s epicentre was in Brendale in the Moreton Bay region on Tuesday
  • Hundreds of Queenslanders have reported feeling a shudder after the quake 
  • There haven’t been any reports of damage with the quake having a 10km depth 

Queensland has been rattled by a magnitude 3.0 earthquake which was felt just north of Brisbane.

The quake hit Brendale in the Moreton Bay region at about 1.25pm on Tuesday, according to Geoscience.

It had a depth of around 10km with hundreds of residents including as far as in Caboolture and Brisbane reporting they felt a shudder.

There aren’t any reports of damage.

‘House is fine. Just made a noise and the ground vibrated for a bit,’ one resident tweeted.

‘Floor rumbled followed by a huge bang that made the house jump all my glassware jingle and fall,’ said another. 

One resident in Cashmere said they felt their house ‘shake’ while others said they felt their windows ‘rattle’.

‘Certainly felt like a herd of elephants running down the hallway,’ said another.
