Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti ‘will try to sign Adrien Rabiot AGAIN this summer after last year’s failure with Italian ready to spend more than £26m’ on Juventus midfielder

  • Adrien Rabiot was heavily linked with a move to Everton in the summer window
  • Carlo Ancelotti was keen on reuniting with the player he brought through at PSG
  • The Everton boss was unsuccessful last year but could now reignite his interest
  • Rabiot, 25, has made 28 appearances for Andrea Pirlo’s Juventus this season

Carlo Ancelotti intends to make a renewed attempt to bring Adrien Rabiot to Everton this summer, according to reports in France

The Juventus midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park last summer after an underwhelming first campaign in Turin.

Ancelotti reportedly made several moves in 2020 to link up with the 25-year-old France international – who broke through into the Paris Saint-Germain first-team under the Italian in 2012 – but was unsuccessful on each occasion.

However, now France Football claim the 61-year-old is set to reignite his interest in Rabiot, and has told the Toffees board to be prepared to spend more than £26million (€30m) to sign the player.

Rabiot was reportedly open to a move to the Premier League last year, with Manchester United also having been linked with him in the last 12 months.

The report comes just a day after Italian outlet Stadio Sport claimed Juventus were prepared to sever ties with Rabiot and are considering an offer received from Everton for a summer transfer.

The same outlet claims Juventus are aware of the need to freshen up Andrea Pirlo’s squad but will need funds to do so, and therefore see Rabiot as a player who would bring them complete profit having joined from PSG on a free transfer in 2019.

Rabiot has been used fairly regularly by Pirlo this season, having made 28 appearances across all competitions this term for the Serie A champions.

The 25-year-old has one Serie A goal and a further Coppa Italia assist to his name this campaign.

Everton currently sit seventh in the Premier League table and will be eyeing European football for the first time since the 2017-18 season to help attract more names and strengthen Ancelotti’s squad.
