But the announcement didn’t go exactly to plan, as some of her followers mistakenly believed the rapper had named her son after the Pokémon species Onix.
In reality, Iggy, whose legal name is Amethyst Kelly, named her son after the onyx stone – a sentimental nod to her own gem-themed first name.

‘Onyx is a beautiful name, but isn’t’ it also that stone Pokémon?’ another added.
Onyx is a type of black gemstone, considered by some to be a ‘grounding stone’ that calms fears and creates a feeling of security.

It derives from the Greek word ὄνυξ, meaning claw or fingernail.
On Tuesday, Iggy revealed her son’s name by uploading a video to Instagram consisting of the words ‘Amethyst & Onyx’ against a plain black background.
The text was accompanied by a 10-second audio recording of the baby cooing
