A father was left horrified after discovering mysterious scratches all over his car bonnet – only for CCTV to reveal it was his own son clearing snow off with a shovel.

Humphrey Grimmett, 46, reviewed footage from outside his house and found the culprit of the damage, which he expects will cost £1,000, was his seven-year-old son Wilf.

The video shows his son using a massive shovel to helpfully remove snow from the Tesla Model Y, which was only bought six months ago, on December 12.

Mr Grimmett, from near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, said: ‘It wasn’t until Wednesday that I saw the scratches, they’re absolutely terrible, massive scrapes.

‘I checked the cameras to see what happened and there my son was using a shovel he found outside from building work we were doing to get the snow off.

‘When he got home from school I asked him, if he knew why there were so many scratches on daddy’s car, and when he said no I asked whether he’d been taking snow off of it.

‘He looked at me with his big blue eyes and said “yes”, and when I asked why he did it with a shovel he said he thought it would be satisfying, bless him.

‘The ironic thing is that the car wasn’t even going anywhere, he just wanted to help out.’
