Hands-off parenting! Fearless 11-month-old baby drags stepladder across floor then climbs it to look out of window as mother calmly films her

  • Infant positions the ladder against a wall and makes her way to the very top
  • Footage was captured at Ms Ferreira’s home in Caldas Novas in Goiás, Brazil

This is the comical moment an 11-month-old baby girl climbs to the top of a stepladder in an effort to look out of the window and enjoy the view.

Mother Sara Ferreira, 35, had been at her home in Caldas Novas in Goiás, Brazil, when she found her daughter Laura positioning a ladder against wall and making her way to the top.

Footage shows the infant slowly place her feet on each step before hoisting her body up and looking out of the window.

During the clip, Laura pulls out the stepladder and positions it against a wall.

The infant places her feet on each step of the ladder and uses her arms to hold onto the sides.

After reaching the top, she swings her legs over to the other side and looks out of the window before looking behind her and giving her mother a smile.

Ms Ferreira said this was not the first time her daughter had been caught trying to climb up the stepladder.

She told local media: ‘That was the third time she did the same thing.  She did it twice under my supervision and I saw she was capable of doing it so I said I’d film it to show her dad.’

Laura’s mother went on to say that her daughter first began crawling when she was just four-months-old and was able to stand at five months.

She added: ‘Many people criticised my calm.

‘At no point did I want to put my daughter at risk. Babies are capable. I let them explore with responsibility.’

Paediatrician Watson Bizarro told local media: ‘Her motor capacity is impressive. For the child’s development, it’s a positive sign. However, it’s still necessary to be very careful because of her age.’

He added: ‘Unlike parents who stimulate their children with mobile phones, doing activities such as walking and climbing help the child a lot.’
