A feisty bride-to-be with a ‘limitless’ wedding dress fund leaves Gok Wan stumped for words with her diva demands in Say Yes To The Dress Lancashire.
In tonight’s episode of the TLC show, Helen arrives at the Ava Rose Hamilton boutique knowing exactly what she wants in a wedding dress: lots and lots of bling.
‘I have this vision of the perfect dress, the dress of my dreams, and I’m actually not willing to settle for anything less,’ she explains, making sure Gok Wan knows that she’s not willing to compromise on her dream gown.
Having already tried on 17 dresses in total, Helen admits she can be hard to please, and issues Gok with a strict brief.
But there is one saving grace for the super stylist – Helen’s working towards a limitless budget.
‘I have expensive taste, I just don’t want to choose a dress for the sake of it and be restricted by budgets.’ Helen explains. ‘Let’s go all out, I want a lot of bling!’

With a big task ahead of him and a strong personality to deal with, Gok whisks Helen off to the dressing room to get started.
Wanting to see her as a blank canvass to help find her perfect gown, he starts by stripping off all of her jewellery, much to Helen’s annoyance.
‘I rarely ever hand over power to anybody, I’m a bit of a control freak,’ she says as she reluctantly removes her bling.
‘I don’t know if Gok’s going to get his way in terms of de-blinging me. I don’t give up that easy on something that I like.’
After starting things off with a slightly more reserved gown to ease Helen in – one that the bride-to-be’s entourage love – Gok then moves onto something more fitting to Helen’s brief: bling, and lots of it.

Thinking he’s hit the nail on the head, Gok is stunned by Helen’s response.
‘It’s cute,’ she says. ‘I’ve got everything that I’ve asked for in this dress but I just don’t like it.’
‘I just don’t know if there’s a little bit too much. This is all your fault, you got me into that less is more kind of thing!’
Having given Helen what she asked for, Gok is shocked to hear her feedback that he might have overdone it.
‘Too much? I am giving up my job!’ Gok says jokingly, to which Helen admits: ‘It’s a romantic dress, it’s beautiful and I just don’t know what my stumbling point is.’
Despite her reservations, Helen decides to show her entourage and gather their thoughts. Frustratingly for her, they side with Gok.
‘I think this is a Goddess dress for sure, I think it’s beautiful,’ Helen’s friend Jennifer says.
In spite of being showered with compliments, the demanding bride-to-be goes with her gut and decides the dress isn’t for her.

Waiting once again in the changing room, Helen is on tenterhooks. Bursting in with a big grin on his face, Gok has some good news: he thinks he’s found her the perfect dress.
With that, Gok presents Helen with a slim-fitted, sparkly dress that ticks all of her boxes. Even before trying it on, Helen has goosebumps.
‘I made this instant connection with this dress, and I’m thinking ‘wow,’ she says.
Opening her eyes for the big reveal, Helen is blown away.
‘This dress has absolutely everything and more,’ she enthuses. ‘It’s one million per cent better than the vision I had in my head!’
Thankfully, Helen’s doting entourage agree.
‘She looks like a Hollywood movie star in that dress, I had to take a breath just to look at her,’ Jennifer enthuses.
‘If this dress makes you feel special, then it’s the perfect one,’ Helen’s sister Stella adds.
Overwhelmed at finding ‘the one,’ Helen struggles to hold back the tears. But her emotions don’t hold her back from having a final light-hearted pop at Gok.
‘What are you doing to me, I’m not a crier? I don’t do tears!’
After sharing a tender moment with her entourage, Helen finally says yes to the dress!
