Former NBA player Matt Barnes is ordered to pay ex-wife Gloria Govan almost $133k in back child support

Matt Barnes has been ordered by a Los Angeles court to pay ex-wife Gloria Govan more than $134,000 in back child support.

The former NBA player, 43, is delinquent in the amount of $133,976.54 to Govan, 38, TMZ reported Thursday after reviewing court docs.

It is not the first time the Santa Clara, California native has been to court over the issue of child support, which was reduced from $20,000 a month to $7,500 in late 2018.

Barnes, who was involved in a spitting incident earlier this year at an NFL playoff game, is father to 14-year-old twins Carter and Isaiah with Govan, who is best known for appearing on the show Basketball Wives.

Govan in 2021 wed Los Angeles Lakers stalwart Derek Fisher in July of 2021 at Cielo Farms in Malibu, California after announcing their engagement in April of 2018.

Barnes, who played for teams including the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors, tied the knot with Govan in 2012 and they split two years later.

Barnes, who played 14 years in the league, finalized his divorce with Govan in 2016 after less than two years of marriage.

In the fall of 2018, Barnes was granted sole physical and legal custody of the children – and an 18-month restraining order against Govan – following an incident in which she was arrested in connection with child endangerment.

In the August 31, 2018 incident, Govan was accused of blocking Barnes from picking up the twins from school on his scheduled custodial day. Barnes claimed she used her car as a weapon and claims he feared for his life and the lives of their sons Carter and Isaiah, TMZ reported at the time.

In court docs, Barnes claimed Govan put their children and other kids at the school in physical danger and claimed the twins have been traumatized by their other’s actions and subsequent arrest.

Charges were ultimately not filed against Govan, who denied the accusations.

The restraining order at the time mandated Govan stay at least 100 yards away from the children, seeing them for four hours once a week in the presence of a professional monitor, the outlet reported in September of 2018.

Govan was ordered to remain peaceful when near Barnes when exchanging the kids.

She was also not allowed to take the kids outside of Los Angeles County unless she got written permission to do so from Barnes under the terms of the restraining order.
