Gary Barlow to host BBC show I’m With The Band with a star-studded band and musical guests

He delighted fans with his crooner sessions during lockdown

Take That star Gary Barlow, 50, is set to take the lead on his own BBC One show, I’m With The Band, mimicking the set up of his much-loved lockdown entertainment.

Gary’s Crooner Sessions have seen him perform virtually with the likes of Cliff Richard, Jessie J and Niall Horan – to name a few.

His own show: Gary Barlow (pictured on The X Factor in 2012) is set to host his own BBC One Show, I’m With The Band, which will see him singing with a variety of artists similar to the style of his much-loved Crooner Sessions during lockdown

The one-off show, due to air in the summer, will see him joined by a band made up of several famous faces, including Tom Fletcher, Jamie Cullum and James Bay, The Sun reports.

A number of popular artists, including Craig David, Anne-Marie and Mostack, will also feature on the show.

They will perform a variety of modern and classic songs with Gary – just as other artists have done virtually during lockdown.

‘The names he has on board with his band are outstanding but those joining him for a song are just as good,’ a source said.

Discussing his new show, Gary said: ‘We’re aiming to give artists a platform and place where they can perform and have fun.

‘It’s simply a musical treat for everyone who loves watching the best musicians performing great songs from any genre and any decade.’

Gary has had some of the biggest names in the music industry join him for his Crooner Sessions.

In February fans had ‘goosebumps as they listened to the singer perform a rendition of Take That’s Patience alongside Boy George, 59.

Gary captioned the video with: ‘Patience ft. Boy George What a way to kick off the week!

‘Thank you to the legendary @boygeorgeofficial for joining me for a singalong to a @takethat classic ❤️ #thecroonersessions.’

The stunning rendition left Gary’s 820K followers in ‘goosebumps’ as they flocked to the comments section to share their love for the duet.

One person said: ‘Oh my goodness. You two legends gave me goosebumps. It was so awesome. Beautiful song and beautiful voices. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️.’

A different fan put: ‘Wow! Boy George, what a legend! great song choice!❤️❤️.’

Perhaps hinting at his future plans for his upcoming show, Gary recently revealed he would love to launch an A-List supergroup and has his sights set on the likes of the Spice Girls, Chris Martin and Little Mix as some of his potential members.

The Take That star quipped that he hopes to repeat the success of 80s supergroup Traveling Wilburys, which consisted of Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.

Speaking to Chris Evans for his How to Wow podcast, Gary said: ‘You write for two weeks in a studio in Nashville, take it on the road for six months… it’d be brilliant. I’d love that.’

Gary suggested that he could call the band Group Therapy, and later revealed that his dream line-up includes Andy Burrows and some of the members of the girl groups Spice Girls, Sugababes and Little Mix.

It came after Gary confirmed he believes Take That will reunite as the original five-piece, as he called the band his ‘safe haven’.

The boyband has been operating with three stars, Gary, 50, Mark Owen, 48, and Howard Donald, 50, since 2014 after Robbie Williams, 46, and Jason Orange, 50, left to focus on their music careers and personal lives.

The five singers originally formed the pop group in 1989 and went on to achieve 12 number one singles on the UK Singles Chart along with eight number one albums . They are currently the most successful boyband in UK chart history.

Robbie exited the band in 1995 and went on to have a number of solo hits including Rock DJ and Angels, while the remaining members announced their split a year later in 1996.

However, they reunited in 2006, minus Robbie, and achieved great success with their reunion tour.

The Rock DJ hitmaker returned once again in 2010 for their album, Progress.

However, he stepped away in 2014 to focus on becoming a father for the second time. Jason also decided to leave because he did not wish to continue touring.
