Gemma Collins is overjoyed when she rushes to a reopened McDonald’s and only manages ONE Big Mac

Gemma Collins believes she has overcome her food addiction – having tested this theory out in McDonald’s this week.

The TOWIE star, 39, was delighted to learn that the burger chain had reopened for business as lockdown continues to ease in the UK – but that she struggled to eat the hefty amount she usually enjoys there.

She recounted this on her podcast, saying: ‘I went in on the menu and it was so strange because my mouth was watering and when I got the food I couldn’t eat it all. I was just so satisfied with one Big Mac.

‘You know when you go to McDonald’s you just have a blow out? But it was just so strange. I think one good thing that’s come out of lockdown for me is I’ve realised it’s best not to have treats everyday. Like, once a week is amazing.’

She also explained that her fitness levels have seen a vast improvement during lockdown.

‘It’s been really interesting because when I first took the bike out I could only do flat surfaces and literally as the weeks have been going on, I’m now in seven gears on one side and three on the other. I’ve still not worked out what they mean!’

What is PCOS? Causes, symptoms and treatment explained…

PCOS stands for polycystic ovary syndrome.

PCOS is a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges.

Women with PCOS may have infrequent or prolonged menstrual periods or excess male hormone (androgen) levels.

Symptoms include menstrual irregularity, excess hair growth, acne, and obesity.

Fertility may also be affected.

While the exact cause of PCOS isn’t known, insulin resistance caused by a highly refined and processed diet is believed to be one of the biggest triggers.

PCOS can be managed through diet, the contraceptive pill and other oral medications.
