Gene Simmons is leaving the Southern California life after nearly four decades.
The legendary KISS singer and bassist has decided to pick up and move his family to Washington State, citing high property taxes in California as a motivating factor.
As a result, he’s put his 16,000-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion, which includes seven bedrooms, up for sale for $22 million.

When Simmons, 71, first bought the property in 1984 for $1.35 million it was a ranch house on a hillside in the Benedict Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to The Wall Street Journal.
But over the years he and his wife, former Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed, redeveloped it into a sprawling European-style mansion that sits on two acres of land.
The home includes a foyer with a domed ceiling, coffered ceilings, a living room with roughly 30-foot-high windows, a formal dining room, a wine cellar, chandeliers, and several balconies and decks overlooking the manicured grounds.

There’s even a gorgeous pool with a 60-foot water slide, parking for 35 cars, and a professional size tennis court.
Simmons has used three rooms to showcase his seemingly endless KISS memorabilia, including dolls, pinball machines and guitars, but those items are not a part of the sale of the property.
The New York native is moving to a 24-acre estate in Washington, near Mount Rainier, in part, because of the growing tax burden of living in the Golden State.

‘California and Beverly Hills have been treating folks that create jobs badly and the tax rates are unacceptable,’ Simmons told the Journal.
‘I work hard and pay my taxes and I don’t want to cry the Beverly Hills blues but enough is enough.’
The Rock And Roll All Nite star also put his smaller 2,345-square-foot home in Laurel Canyon up for sale for $2.2 million in August. But its status is now listed as ‘Withdrawn/Cancelled.’
KISS, who formed in New York City in 1973, were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2014.
