A creative home stylist has shared how to make your own Christmas tree this festive season for less than $30 using a bamboo garden screen from Bunnings Warehouse.
DIY enthusiast Geneva Vanderzeil from Brisbane, Australia shared images with her 304,000 Instagram followers showing how she made the unique mounted reed tree.
‘A space and money-saving tree alternative for those of you who might like or need something a bit different,’ she wrote.
For ten years she has challenged herself to create Christmas trees that are ‘out of the ordinary’, and last year she made a wall-mounted tree using wooden sticks from her backyard.

The home project only took an hour to complete using a bamboo garden screen from Bunnings Warehouse. To make the tree, she laid out the bamboo screen on the floor and used blue tape to create a triangular shape
Geneva said the tree is ‘so simple to make’ and created flat baubles using coasters for decoration.
‘One thing I love about this is that you can also roll it up easily to store between Christmases!’ she said.

Using scissors she carefully cut around the tape to form the shape of the tree, then the bamboo was painted and left to dry before being stuck to the wall.
The home project only took Geneva an hour to make and used a picture hook to hang it on the wall.
Three clear cord clips were attached to the base to the wall to stretch the three out.
Geneva said the tree is ‘so simple to make’ and create flat baubles using coasters. The project is the perfect alternative to those who don’t want to spend a lot of money purchasing a new Christmas tree and is a fun activity to do with children

The social media post quickly caught the attention of other DIY enthusiasts who praised the ‘fantastic’ idea.
