  • Looks forward to sharing $1million win with family and taking first ever holiday

A shocked Gold Coast grandmother has locked herself in her office to deal with the life-changing news of becoming Australia’s latest millionaire.

The woman was one of three division one winners who took home $1million each in Wednesday’s night Gold Lotto draw, and will now go on her first ever holiday.

The grandmother had no idea of her big windfall and was in the middle of a hectic morning at work when she was interrupted by a surprise phone call from The Lott on Thursday.

‘Oh my god! I’m just in the middle of something. It’s been such a busy day at work. I’ve been smashed this morning,’ the thrilled winner told The Lott official.

‘I feel a bit sick. It’s good news. I’m so busy, but this interruption is worth it.

‘This is life-changing. You have no idea. I can’t believe it.’

The woman, who has played on and off for several years, admitted she locked herself in the office to deal the life-changing news.

‘I’m going to have to take an extended tea break to calm down and let the news sink in,’ she said.

‘I’ve always told my family I would win one day. I’ve always said I’d be happy with a smaller win like a few hundred thousand dollars.

‘But a million dollars! Wow! It’s just crazy. I never thought it would happen.’

The lucky winner looks towards to finally taking her first ever holiday and sharing her windfall with her kids and grandchildren.

‘I’ve never owned my own home, so I’ve never been able to help them own one either, so this will go a long way to giving us all a head start,’ she said.

‘I started working when I was 16, and I’ve never really stopped working. I’ve never been on a real holiday.

‘This will be life-changing for all of us for sure.’

The delighted winner, who wishes to remain anonymous bought her winning 12-game QuickPick entry online.

The next chance to become Australia’s latest millionaire is in Thursday night’s $8million Powerball draw.
