Heather Watson and Anton Matusevich finish top in the inaugural Battle of the Brits Premier League of Tennis at Roehampton

  • Watson beat Fran Jones to finish top in the indoor four-day exhibition event
  • Teenager Matusevich overcame Draper in final match to claim the title
  • Murray finished third in the men’s standings after claiming six points 

The Battle of the Brits Premier League of Tennis concluded on Wednesday with Heather Watson topping the women’s points table and 19-year-old Anton Matusevich as the men’s winner.

Watson beat Fran Jones 7-6, 6-2 to finish top in the indoor four-day exhibition event at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.

Matusevich and Jack Draper, also aged 19, had seven points apiece in the men’s standings. 

Heather Watson won all four of her matches, culminating in a 7-6 6-2 win against Fran Jones

It came down to a head-to-head between the two, and Matusevich overcame Draper 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 to claim the title.

Earlier in the day, British No 1 Dan Evans lost to Cameron Norrie.

Andy Murray finished third in the men’s standings after claiming six points.
