Home and Away’s Penny McNamee defends ‘beautiful’ co-star Sam Frost

Penny McNamee has come to the defence of her Home and Away co-star Sam Frost.

The 37-year-old shared a photo with Sam, 31, on the Channel Seven set to Instagram on Friday, telling fans that she’s a ‘great actor’ and a ‘beautiful person’.

Sam has received online hate over her latest storyline, which sees her character Jasmine Delaney attempting to steal a baby away from its biological mother Tori Morgan, played by Penny.

‘This is Sam. Sam is not trying to steal my baby. Sam is a great actor. And a beauuuutiful person. Be like Sam,’ Penny captioned the photo of the pair on set.   

‘P.S Any mean comments aimed at Sam, and you’ll have ME to deal with!’ she continued playfully, alongside a fisted hand emoji. 

It comes a day after Sam was forced to remind fans she wasn’t anything like her character Jasmine.    

‘People are very angry at me at the moment but I think I just need to remind everyone it’s a TV show,’ the former Bachelorette told her Instagram followers on Thursday in a since-deleted series of videos. 

‘It’s not real, I don’t actually want to steal a baby.’ 

She added: ‘It’s just a TV show and I’m playing a character so relax.’

On the show, Jasmine is trying to win custody over her deceased husband Robbo’s baby, which would take the child away from the biological mother Tori (played by Penny), who is a fan favourite character.

Home and Away resumed filming on May 25, after it was forced to shut down over coronavirus fears.  

It now has strict measures in place to ensure the safety of their cast and crew.

This includes temperature checks, regular cleaning schedules and social distancing.
